Police have responded to a further disturbance in Wadeye early this morning.
Around 12:15am, police attended reports of a disturbance involving up to 200 people. It is alleged some individuals within the group were armed with edged and blunt weapons.
Upon police arrival, projectiles were thrown towards attending officers. Several weapons including metal bars, steel window louvres and a crossbow bolt were launched towards police and the Police Station. OC spray was deployed, and the group dispersed.
One adult male was injured during the fighting and conveyed from community via CareFlight.
Police are continuing to investigate.
Acting Superintendent Glenn Leafe said, “Police and all frontline services in Wadeye are working to keep the broader community safe, yet a portion of the community continues to engage in extremely dangerous violence.
“Our officers should not be subjected to assaults while protecting and serving the community, and this violent behaviour will not be tolerated.
“This follows a second night of disturbances, and police will continue to investigate and hold those who choose to engage in this behaviour to account.”
