Northern Territory Police have arrested two people after a stolen vehicle was driven dangerously across Greater Darwin yesterday.  

At about 8:30am, Strike Force Trident members observed a stolen white Subaru Outback travelling on the wrong side of the Stuart Highway between Hook Road, Winnellie, and Berrimah Road, Berrimah.

The vehicle allegedly continued onto Tiger Brennan Drive against the flow of traffic and collided with several vehicles.

Police initiated two pursuits during the incident; however, both were terminated due to safety concerns. A search for the vehicle resulted in it being located abandoned in bushland in Howard Springs.

The 27-year-old female driver and her 22-year-old male passenger were arrested and charged with a combined 18 offences, including recklessly endangering serious harm, failing to stop after a crash, property damage and drug offences.

The woman was allegedly subject to electronic monitoring and court-ordered bail conditions at the time of her arrest. Both are due to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Police are also investigating a separate incident in Nightcliff on Sunday evening, during which the same vehicle was allegedly driven at police while they were arresting a person for unrelated offences. The officers were not physically injured.

Investigations remain ongoing.
