Man charged following alleged domestic violence assaults - Malak

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 25-year-old man following alleged domestic violence assaults against his 28-year-old partner in Malak.

Police allege the man assaulted the woman on Fawcett Court on the evening of Tuesday 15 September 2026, causing her to fall to the ground.

He allegedly assaulted the woman again outside a residence on Paqualin Road about 5:45am the following morning.

At around 9:20am, police and St John Ambulance paramedics attended the Paqualin Road residence following reports the woman was unresponsive. Despite attempts to revive her, she was declared deceased a short time later.

The man was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and three counts of contravening a domestic violence order.

He is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Superintendent Paul Lawson from the Major Crime Squad said detectives were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“While charges have now been laid in relation to the alleged assaults and breaches of the domestic violence order, the investigation into the woman’s death remains ongoing as we await formal autopsy results”
