The Northern Territory Police Force is seeking public assistance to locate a 28-year-old male who escaped from NT Corrections custody in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Around 5:20pm, police were made aware that the male had absconded from the Barkly Work Camp. It is believed he has removed his electronic monitoring device and may be travelling towards Alice Springs.

He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts.

Police are actively searching for him, and he is urged to return himself into custody as soon as possible.

The public should not approach him if sighted and should contact police immediately.
