The Northern Territory Police Force has charged a 48-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted his cousin at Malak on Friday night.
Around 10:10pm, Police, who were in the area on unrelated matters, observed an injured, adult female on Fawcett Court, Malak.
Members rendered aid to the 48-year-old victim, until the arrival of St John Ambulance who conveyed the woman to the Royal Darwin Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The offender was arrested shortly afterwards and taken into custody.
Yesterday afternoon the man was charged with recklessly endangering serious harm and served with a domestic violence order.
He remains in Police custody and is set to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday 13 April.
