Northern Territory Police have recovered the body of a male from a beach near Rapid Creek last night.

Police officers form Search and Rescue and NT Emergency Services personnel assisted with the search and recovery of the man.

The deceased is described as an adult Indigenous man and has not yet been formally identified. Investigations are ongoing.

Police thank members of the public who assisted in the search after witnesses saw the male swimming in Rapid Creek prior to going missing.
