Call for Information - Crime Series - Katherine

The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information in relation to a crime series involving an attempted armed robbery and multiple home invasions across Katherine over Tuesday and Wednesday, 24 and 25 February.

Around 3:20am on Tuesday, three concealed offenders allegedly attempted to force entry at a service station on Zimin Drive, while armed with an edged weapon.

Police have identified a person of interest they believe could assist with enquiries.

At around 10:30pm on the same day, a group of males, believed to be linked to the service station incident, allegedly entered a residence on Donegan Court armed with a crossbow.

A male victim was assaulted; however, didn’t suffer any significant injuries.

A short time later, it is alleged multiple offenders including one armed with a crossbow and another armed with a machete, entered a residence on Acacia Drive. Police believe this incident is linked to a dispute between two gangs.

In another linked incident on Wednesday, around 1am, a male victim was allegedly threatened with a crossbow at a service station in Katherine; however, wasn’t physically assaulted before the males fled the area.

A vehicle of interest was located outside a premises near Lindsay Street.

A crossbow, crossbow bolts and edged weapons were seized. The vehicle was towed for forensic examination.

Investigators from Northern Investigations and Strikeforce Cerberus have carriage of the investigation and are working diligently to provide the community a resolution to these incidents as quickly as possible.

Acting Superintendent Katherine Division Warren Scott said: “Community safety is a priority and the NTPF will track down any offender putting that safety at risk.

"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated, and police will continue to identify and hold offenders to account.

"The Katherine community can expect to see our officers out and about as we continue a high visibility police operation targeting alcohol fuelled harm and knife related incidents. Since the 17 February 2026, we have conducted 274 foot and vehicle patrols through the CBD and 26 high visibility wanding operations.

"We will continue to work alongside our community partners to build a safer Katherine."
