Arrests - Pedestrian Strike - Tennant Creek

The Northern Territory Police Force has made two arrests after a pedestrian was struck by a car at Tennant Creek this morning.

Shortly after 6am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that an adult female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Paterson Street.

Police arrived to find the female unconscious and suffering visible head injuries. She was transported to hospital by St John Ambulance.

The vehicle, a white Holden Commodore sedan remained at the scene and the alleged driver was located nearby and arrested.

The 24-year-old male offender tested positive for alcohol and negative for drugs

The driver’s Learners permit had expired in 2019.

The driver and his 21-year-old male passenger are currently being held in the Tennant Creek Watch House.

A crime scene was declared and one lane of Paterson Street was closed.

The Commodore was seized and the crime scene is currently being processed.

The victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
