Arrest – Child abuse material – Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 24-year-old male in relation to child abuse material possession and drug offences in Alice Springs.

Around 9:15am this morning, members from the Southern Drug Investigation Unit and the Dog Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a property on Kurrajong Drive.

As a result of the search, the following items were found and seized by police:

  • Cannabis – trafficable amount
  • Methamphetamine – less than trafficable
  • Drug paraphilia indicative of supply
  • $3,550 in Australian currency
  • 1 x Device containing child abuse material

A 24-year-old male was arrested and has since been charged with:

  • Possession of child abuse material
  • Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug – less than trafficable quantity
  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – less than trafficable quantity
  • Breach of bail

A 59-year-old male was also arrested and charged with:

  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug – less than commercial quantity
  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug – less than commercial quantity
  • 2 x Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – trafficable quantity
  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – less than trafficable quantity
  • Receiving or possessing tainted property

Both were remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court tomorrow.
