Arrest – Aggravated assault – Alice Springs

A 29-year-old female has been arrested in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs earlier today.

At 11:05am, a police member conducting point of sale intervention (POSI) duties was notified of an injured female nearby within a shopping complex on the corner of Gregory Terrace and Bath Street.

It is alleged the 29-year-old victim had been assaulted by a 29-year-old female offender with an edged weapon, resulting in a serious laceration to the victim’s arm. Police attended and provided first aid before she was conveyed hospital by St John Ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  

Investigations commenced and the offender was located and arrested a short time later in the Alice Springs CBD. She remains in police custody.

A crime scene has been declared and the alleged weapon used is outstanding at this time.
