The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a man after a serious assault overnight in Alice Springs.
Around 10pm, police received a report that a 41-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man had exited a vehicle on Bagot Street, where the man allegedly assaulted the woman with a blunt weapon.
The offender briefly left the scene in the vehicle before returning and continuing to assault the female.
The victim was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital with multiple injuries including a broken leg.
The 29-year-old was arrested by police and remains in custody, expected to be charged later today.
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the assault to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference P26056476.
