The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating a death in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 10:40pm, the Joint Emergency Service Communication Centre received reports that a residence was fully ablaze in Sadadeen.

The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service attended, and the fire was extinguished. A deceased woman was located in one of the bedrooms of the residence.

A crime scene was declared, and a fire investigator will attend the location today. Formal identification is currently underway.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the death.
