The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating a death in Katherine overnight. 

Around 11:50pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a 44-year-old male had been found unresponsive at a residence on Needham Terrace.

Emergency services responded and the male was declared deceased at the scene. The male had allegedly suffered an injury to his upper body.

The cause of death is still being investigated and at this stage police are treating the death as suspicious.
