Northern Territory Police are investigating after an aggravated robbery that occurred in Katherine early this morning.
Around 4:30am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a woman had been stabbed near the Katherine Showgrounds.
It is alleged that a 19-year-old was walking through a field where she was approached by a male unknown to her. The male allegedly stabbed her in the leg and stole money before fleeing the scene.
The offender subsequently returned the money and remained with the victim until she was able to flag down a passing motorist. The 19-year-old victim was transported to Katherine Hospital where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police attended and conducted a search of the area; however, the offender remains outstanding. Investigations are ongoing.
