Police

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested eight youths in relation to two stolen motor vehicle incidents that occurred yesterday evening in Alice Springs.

Around 7.15pm, police received a report of an unlawful entry at a residence on Caterpillar Court in Desert Springs, during which car keys were allegedly stolen. A group of unknown youths returned a short time later and allegedly stole a Madza BT-50 from the residence.

Shortly before 7.30pm, the occupants of what police believe to be the stolen Mazda, allegedly pulled a woman from her parked Ford Ranger on Ilparpa Road and stole the vehicle. Both vehicles were subsequently sighted driving dangerously throughout Alice Springs.

The stolen Mazda was subsequently apprehended shortly before 9pm on Ilparpa Road. Three female youths aged 15, 16, and 17 were arrested without incident.

The stolen Ford Ranger was tracked by drone resulting in the arrest of three female youths aged 13, 16, and 17, when they exited the vehicle on Red Sands Courts in Desert Springs. The Ranger continued and was apprehended in Sadadeen, where two female youths, both aged 14, were arrested.

All eight youths remain in custody with charges expected to follow, and investigations are ongoing.
