The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested eight people in relation to a stolen motor vehicle incident that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.
At 3.30pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from a carpark on Gregory Terrace.
The 28-year-old female victim was allegedly approached by three female youths who stole the keys to her Toyota Prado and fled from the location, before one of the youths returned shortly afterwards and stole the vehicle.
At 6.20pm, the JESCC received multiple reports from the Utopia region that the stolen motor vehicle was sighted in the area. Local police members from Arlparra and Ampilawatja subsequently identified and recovered the vehicle.
Seven female youths aged 13, 13, 14, 14, 15, 17 and 17, and a 19-year-old adult female were arrested.
Strike Force Viper are assisting local members with the ongoing investigation.
