Arrests – Disturbance – Darwin

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two females in relation to a disturbance that occurred in Darwin in the early hours of this morning.

At 4:20am, police received a report of an aggravated assault at a licenced premises in Edmunds Street in the Darwin CBD.

It is alleged a fight had occurred between two females aged 36 and 21 inside the premises, with security separating the pair. A short time later, the 36-year-old approached the 21-year-old and sprayed her with personal OC spray. A security guard was able to minimise the exposure of the spray by smothering the stream with his hand. The 21-year-old allegedly threw a nearby stool at the offender, however missed and struck another person.

Several people suffered minor effects from secondary contamination of the spray.

Both females were arrested. The 36-year-old has been charged with Aggravated assault and Fight in a public place. The 21-year-old has been charged with Fight in a public place. Both offenders have been granted bail to appear before the Darwin Local Court on 16 October 2025.

The OC spray used was purchased legally in the Northern Territory and the 36-year-old was the recorded purchaser of the spray. It has been seized by police.
