The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two males in relation to an attempted robbery that occurred in Alice Springs earlier this morning.
Around 7:05am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of an attempted robbery in a carpark on the corner of Railway Terrace and Gregory Terrace.
It is alleged the 27-year-old male victim was exiting his parked vehicle when a 17-year-old male has approached him, stolen his car keys and attempted to punch him. The victim fended off the offender and was able to take his car keys back.
The offender was in the company of a 24-year-old male and a female youth, and all three left the scene on foot. No items were reported stolen, and the victim did not suffer any injuries.
CCTV operators tracked the offender to nearby Hartley Street. Strike Force Viper and general duties members attended and arrested the 17-year-old male around 7:35am in relation to the attempted robbery. The 24-year-old male was also arrested in relation to outstanding warrants.
The female youth is assisting police with enquiries.
