Arrests – Aggravated burglary – Alice Springs

Three male youths have been arrested in relation to an aggravated burglary that occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 7:20pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report of an aggravated burglary at a residence in Gillen.

It is alleged four youths approached the 63-year-old female occupant near the front of the residence and threatened her with an edged weapon. The victim retreated inside, and the offenders followed her while continuing to threaten her. They subsequently searched through the residence and stole a set of car keys before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

At 7:40pm, police were notified of an attempted burglary at an address in Araluen, where access was not gained. Upon attendance, police arrested three male youths aged 13, 14 and 15 years old.

They were in possession of the car keys stolen from the Gillen address, and police investigations indicate the incidents are linked.

They have since been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Theft, and Damage to Property, and will appear in court today.
