The Northern Territory Police Force have arrested a 34-year-old man in relation to domestic violence offences in Palmerston yesterday afternoon.
Around 11am, Casuarina General Duties members sighted the man who had an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic violence offences. Upon police approach the man entered a vehicle and fled the scene.
A pursuit was initiated but terminated shortly after as the man evaded apprehension.
A short time later, Palmerston General Duties officers spotted the vehicle driving through Durack, prompting a second pursuit. Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on University Avenue, before the offender abandoned the vehicle and fled into the grounds of the Palmerston Golf Course.
Multiple police units attended and established a cordon in the area.
The offender discarded his shirt when entering the golf course and then a second item of clothing on the fence of a residence nearby.
Dog Operations Unit were deployed, and Patrol Dog Drax quickly located the presence of recent human odour and tracked the scent through the golf course and located the offender hiding in a tree.
At this time the 34-year-old surrendered and was arrested without further incident.
He remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
