The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 17-year-old female in relation an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred in Katherine overnight.
Around 11:30pm, police received reports that a 63-year-old woman had been struck multiple times with a plastic crate, suffering serious head injuries. Police and St John Ambulance attended the scene and conveyed the woman to Katherine District Hospital for treatment.
A short time later, police arrested a 17-year-old female relative of the victim. She currently remains in custody assisting police with enquiries.
Investigations are ongoing and police urge anyone with information to call 131 444 and quote reference P25064833. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
