The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 29-year-old male in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs last night.
Around 9pm, police received a report of a disturbance on Bloomfield Street. It is alleged the 29-year-old had assaulted an adult female, and when two bystanders attempted to intervene, the offender and an additional male assaulted them. The offender was allegedly armed with an edged weapon.
Police attended and arrested the 29-year-old. He remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
The male bystander sustained minor injuries and was conveyed to hospital by police.
The female victim and second male left the scene.
