Police

**The second vehicle has now been located by Strike Force Viper.

Northern Territory Police have arrested ten youths following a dangerous driving incident involving stolen vehicles in the Alice Springs CBD early this morning.

Around 3:40am, the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received reports of two vehicles driving dangerously through the CBD. The vehicles, containing several youths, were believed to be stolen.

A police traffic unit was stationed on Todd Street when one of the stolen vehicles collided with the rear of the unit. Fortunately, the incident resulted in minimal damage and no injuries.

Officers formulated a resolution plan after noting the intention of the occupants in the stolen vehicles to ram police vehicles.

A second police vehicle, upon completing their response at the hospital, returned to the station, and was again rammed by one of the stolen vehicles on Gregory Terrace. There was minimal damage, and no injuries were reported.

At approximately 4:50am, police successfully spiked one of the stolen vehicles on Telegraph Terrace, leading to the arrest of the youths aged between 13 and 17. A 13-year-old youth was returned home and left in the care of a responsible adult.

Members of the Strike Force Viper Unit located the owners of the stolen vehicles. The owners were unaware that their vehicles had been stolen; the offenders had accessed the vehicles by removing keys from an unlocked cabin.

The second stolen motor vehicle, a White Mitsubishi Triton, Victorian registration 1WJ8AA, remains outstanding, and investigations are ongoing.

Two offenders remain outstanding in relation to the outstanding stolen motor vehicle.
