Sexual assault - Lajamanu

Police

Northern Territory Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault in Lajamanu yesterday.

Around 8am, it is alleged a woman was sexually assaulted by a male who had unlawfully entered her room, at a residence within the community.

The victim attended the local clinic and an investigation was commenced. Police established a crime scene and a number of items were seized for forensic analysis at a house in the community.

The offender is allegedly known to the victim.

Detectives from the Northern Investigations Section have carriage and an 18-year-old male has been identified as a person of interest.

Police are urging the community of Lajamanu to report any suspicious behaviour overnight, and anyone with relevant information is urged to make contact on 131 444 or to visit your local station.
