JACET Charges – West Arnhem Region

The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET), comprising members from the AFP and Northern Territory Police, have charged a man following his arrest while in possession of child abuse material.

Earlier this week, JACET members travelled to a remote community in the West Arnhem Region, and executed a search warrant on a residence, seizing digital devices containing child abuse material.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with:

  • S474.22 (Cth) Possess child abuse material
  • S474.22 (Cth) Access child abuse material

A number of digital devices belonging to the man are pending further analysis.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to be further charged in relation to offending against children and production of child abuse material. He will face Darwin Local Court on 9 April 2024.
