Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash in Johnston this morning.
Around 5:55am, police received reports of a collision between a vehicle and a male cyclist.
Investigations indicate that the cyclist and the vehicle were driving towards the Stuart Highway on Lambrick Avenue when the crash occurred.
The male driver of the vehicle involved and a witness driving a vehicle immediately stopped to render assistance to the injured man and contacted police.
St John Ambulance paramedics attended and provided emergency first-aid; however, the cyclist was declared deceased at the scene.
Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Lindner said, “Major Crash detectives remain on scene investigating the circumstances of the crash.”
“The eastbound lanes of Lambrick Avenue from the intersection of Farrar Boulevard towards the Stuart Highway are expected to remain fully closed until at least midday.”
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
