Northern Territory Police are currently responding to a fatal crash along the Stuart Highway in Hayes Creek.

Around 12:30pm today, police received reports of a two-vehicle collision 60km north of Pine Creek on the Stuart Highway.

Three occupants have been pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both lanes of the Stuart Highway are expected to remain closed until late this evening.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Musgrave said “This is significant loss of life and will have a devastating impact on the families involved as well as our first responders. 

“We are in the initial stages of the investigation and the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are unknown.

“More information will be released as it becomes available.

“Police are urging anyone with dash cam travelling on the Stuart Highway in the area to make contact with police on 131 444.”
