Fatal Crash – Berry Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at Berry Springs in Darwin's rural area this afternoon.

About 2:13pm, Emergency Services received reports that a white, Toyota Hilux utility, that was travelling Southbound, had rolled on Hopewell Road and come to rest on its roof.

The sole occupant of the utility, a 73-year-old male was trapped in the vehicle.

Northern Territory Police, Fire and St John Ambulance crews attended the scene, but the man was declared deceased upon their arrival.

A crime scene has been established and traffic diversions are currently in place on Hopewell Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and obey all directions.

The scene is expected to be cleared before sundown.

The factors contributing to the cause of the crash are not yet known.

Police are calling for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage from vehicles travelling in the Berry Springs area this afternoon to call 131 444 and quote reference number P24190952.

Darwin Traffic Operations has carriage of the incident, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
