Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to a dangerous driving incident involving a stolen motor vehicle that occurred overnight in Alice Springs.

Around 3.35am this morning, a white Toyota Hilux allegedly deliberately drove at a police vehicle, forcing the officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The Hilux was confirmed as being stolen earlier in the night from a residence on Cameron Street, Braitling by an unknown number of offenders.

A short time later, the stolen motor vehicle rammed another police vehicle head on, before reversing and ramming the vehicle a second time. No police member was injured during either incident, however the second police vehicle sustained significant damage.

The offenders subsequently returned, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed north of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway. The four male occupants fled into nearby bushland and the stolen motor vehicle was seized.

A cordon was established and members from the Dog Operations Unit tracked the offenders resulting in the arrest of a 12-year-old male and 13-year-old male. The 12-year-old was released into the care of a responsible adult.
