Call for information – Hit and Run – Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident that occurred earlier today in Alice Springs.

At 7am this morning, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of a 31-year-old woman being struck by two vehicles in Larapinta.

A disturbance allegedly occurred in Lyndavale Drive, during which the woman was struck by the first vehicle. The contact caused her to fall to the ground where she was subsequently struck by a second vehicle.

The male driver of the second vehicle attempted to stop at the scene, but an altercation occurred, and he left the scene. He immediately presented to the Alice Springs Police Station and is assisting police with enquiries. Both a breath and drug test returned negative results.

Emergency services attended and the woman was transported to Alice Springs Hospital for medical treatment with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The first vehicle, described as a white Toyota Hilux utility, and its driver remain outstanding.

A crime scene was established, and the Southern Traffic Operations Unit is investigating the incident.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dash cam footage from the area, to make contact on 131 444 or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
