Northern Territory Police are seeking witnesses to an assault that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday morning.

Between 3:15am and 3:50am police believe a 20-year-old female was assaulted with a weapon by a male who is known to her on Nicker Crescent.

The female suffered serious injuries, and a white 2004 BA Ford Falcon is alleged to have dropped her off at Alice Springs Hospital, before leaving the area.

The victim has since been airlifted to Adelaide for treatment.

The Southern Domestic and Family Violence Unit have carriage of the investigation. The alleged offender has been identified and efforts are underway to locate him.

Police are appealing to any witnesses with information or dash cam footage of the incident to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police on 131 444. Please quote reference NTP2400104914.
