Call for information - Burglaries - Katherine

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a string of burglaries in Katherine early this morning.

Around 1am, police received reports that a group of 4 male youths allegedly attempted to gain entry to a residence on Condon Street before they were confronted by the occupant and fled the scene.

In a separate incident, around 2:50am, police received notification that a group of 4 male youths had unlawfully entered a facility on the Stuart Highway, Katherine East. When inside the facility the group allegedly stole items and caused property damage.

Later, in another incident, around 4:05am, police received reports that 4 male youths had allegedly forced their way into the same residence previously targeted on Condon Street, assaulting the occupant in the process before fleeing the scene on foot.

Katherine Criminal investigation Branch and Strike Force Cerberus are Investigating these overnight incidents. 

Detective Senior Sergeant Ordelman said that “Forensics attended the crime scenes and have collected items for analysis. 

“Some of the scenes have also had latent fingerprints developed. 

“Although the investigation is at the earlier stages, police have identified persons who may be of interest to the investigation.”
