Call for information – Arson / Attempted aggravated burglary – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to an attempted aggravated burglary and arson incident that occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 1.30am this morning, police received reports of four unknown male offenders allegedly attempting to break into two vehicles parked outside a residence on Chewings Street, East Side.

Two occupants of the residence confronted the offenders before having rocks thrown at them and retreating inside the house.

The offenders allegedly proceeded to damage the door and window of the residence attempting to gain entry but were unable to do so.

The offenders have subsequently allegedly damaged the two vehicles by breaking the windows before setting one alight.

All offenders fled the scene in the direction of the Todd River. Operation Grimmel and general duties officers responded and pursued the offenders on foot, however they currently remain outstanding.

The victims did not require medical attention.

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to extinguish the car fire and police established a crime scene.

The Southern Criminal Investigations Branch is investigating the incident and are urging anyone who has information, including dash cam or CCTV of the area, to contact 131 444 and quote reference P24184373.
