Northern Territory Police are investigating after two police officers were assaulted in the Victoria Daly Region Monday afternoon.
Around 3:30pm, local police attended a residence in a remote community to execute a warrant for domestic violence-related offending when the 42-year-old male allegedly threw a large cup of boiling liquid at the officers before fleeing into a nearby river.
The male was unable to be apprehended at that time.
The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the local clinic.
Investigations are ongoing with an arrest plan in place.
Commander Kylie Anderson said, “This is yet another disgusting assault on our frontline members as they go about their duty protecting Territorians. Luckily, it does not appear as though they have suffered permanent injuries.”
