Northern Territory Police have arrested 4 people in relation to drug offences last week.

In the early hours of 16 May 2024, investigators from the Drug and Organised Crime Section identified a white Toyota Prado that was believed to be involved in commercial drug supply that was headed south towards Alice Springs.

The vehicle was apprehended approximately 25km north of Tennant Creek by investigators from the Tennant Creek Police Station. During a search of the vehicle approximately $310,000 in cash was located and seized.

The occupants of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man and a 36-year-old female were arrested and were both charged with Supply Schedule 2 Drug – Commercial Quantity, and Possess tainted property.

The male driver was later found to have been in Australia illegally since 2018.

Subsequent warrants were later executed at an address in Darwin which resulted in a commercial quantity of cannabis being seized and approximately $12,000 in cash.

A 32-year-old male and a 28-year-old female were arrested and have also been charged with Supply and Possess Schedule 2 Drug – Commercial Quantity, and Possess tainted property.

Detective Superintendent Lee Morgan said “NT Police know that the supply and distribution of illicit substances into the community causes significant harm, through financial, health and societal outcomes”.

“Police have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the supply and distribution of illegal substance and criminals should note it’s only a matter of time until you are caught.”
