Northern Territory Police have arrested two men in relation to a domestic violence related aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs earlier today.

Around 7.15am, police received a report that two men were fighting in the Todd Mall. During the altercation, a 31-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon by his 33-year-old brother. The pair reportedly continued their altercation before fleeing the area.

General duties officers attended and both men were located and arrested on Bath Street a short time later. The 33-year-old man was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment for injuries to his head.

Both men were subsequently conveyed to the Alice Springs watch house and are expected to be charged later today.
