Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an alleged sexual assault in Katherine yesterday.

Around 2am, police received a report that a woman was sexually assaulted by 2 males who were unknown to her in the vicinity of Katherine Terrace, Katherine South .

Police deployed to the area while the victim was conveyed to Katherine District Hospital.

Detectives from the Northern Investigation Section began investigations and at 1am this morning, general duties officers identified a 34-year-old man who was subsequently arrested.

He is expected to be charged later today.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
