Northern Territory Police arrested a man in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred on Saturday morning in Gray.

Around 12am, police received reports of a man chasing a woman outside a unit block on Cornwallis Circuit. The woman ran into a bedroom where the man allegedly assaulted her with a broken bottle.

The victim was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital where she received treatment for her injuries and continues to recover.

The man was arrested at the scene and later charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and fail to rescue.

The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.
