Northern Territory Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to the death of a 36-year-old man in Darwin City after an alleged assault on Saturday.

The man was arrested earlier today by detectives from the Major Crime Unit after extensive investigations.

He remains in custody and charges are expected later tonight.
