Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths aged 15 and 17 who were involved in a series of property crimes in the Greater Darwin Region over the long weekend.
On Sunday, offenders stole three cars from residences in Bayview area and a further vehicle from a commercial property in Yarrawonga.
Between 1:00am – 2:30am on Monday morning, the same offenders were part of a group who unlawfully entered a café, two post offices and a restaurant, before using one of the stolen vehicles to ram raid a retail store and a bottle shop in the Darwin CBD.
As part of the police response, officers observed the stolen vehicles driving along Tiger Brennan Drive and initiated a pursuit, resulting in the arrest of the two youths in Palmerston.
The pair were charged with:
- Damage to property x 7
- Theft x 7
- Aggravated burglary – Dwelling x 1
- Aggravated burglary – Building x 7
- Driving motor vehicle without consent x 4
- Theft of mail receptacles x 1
- Tampering with mail receptacles x 1
They were both remanded to appear in court today.
Strike Force Trident detectives are continuing their investigations and further arrests are expected to be made.

Commander Daniel Bacon said “This was exceptional work undertaken by members of the Northern Territory Police Force who coordinated an appropriate response which resulted in two offenders being apprehended very quickly.

“It is critical if you see something, report it. It may just be the critical bit of information needed by police to resolve matters quickly. Timely information is important for police to proactively engage to prevent crime or anti-social behaviour escalating.”
