Death – Structure fire – Alice Springs

A young child has died in a structure fire that occurred in Alice Springs earlier today.

Just after 10:30am, emergency services were called to a structure fire in Larapinta following reports that a person was trapped inside the residence.

NTPFES personnel arrived to find the residence engulfed in flames. Firefighters entered the property and located the unresponsive child and attempted to revive the child through CPR. The child was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital by St John Ambulance.

Unfortunately, the child did not respond to medical intervention and passed away.

Regional Crime Detectives are now examining the circumstances surrounding the fire along with Fire Investigators and the Coroners Constable.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
