Charges – Domestic violence – Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have charged a 21-year-old man with domestic violence and robbery related offences after an incident in Tennant Creek earlier this month.

On 5 May 2023, the man allegedly assaulted his partner in a service station on Paterson Street, Tennant Creek, before threatening her with a bottle. The man allegedly then threatened staff before stealing items and fleeing the scene.

The woman received neck and face injuries. The offender has been actively avoiding police since the incident.

On Friday 19 May 2023, while attending reports of a disturbance on Ford Crescent, Tennant Creek, police located the offender who was arrested without incident. Detectives from the Tennant Creek Criminal Investigation Branch have since charged him with:

  • Engage in conduct to contravene domestic violence order
  • Breach bail
  • Aggravated assault
  • Damage to property
  • Going armed in public
  • Assault worker x 2
  • Theft
  • Aggravated robbery
  • Make threats to kill

He was remanded to appear in Tennant Creek Local Court tomorrow.
