Charges – Domestic violence – Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to a domestic violence incident in Palmerston yesterday evening.

A 41-year-old man allegedly repeatedly assaulted his 47-year-old female partner on the corner of Temple Terrace and Maluka Drive, Palmerston.

The woman was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment. The man was identified by security officers in the area, and a short time later arrested by police.

He has since been charged by detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit with:

  • Recklessly endangering serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Engage in conduct that contravenes a DVO

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday 30 January 2023.

Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley said “There is no excuse for this sort of violent behaviour, it has no place in our community and police will continue to do everything we can to hold offenders to account.”
