Charges – Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police Serious Crime Squad have charged a 39-year-old man after an incident at a service station in Palmerston on Sunday. 

At 4:50 am, the offender allegedly entered the Toyota Kluger while parked, with two children in the backseat, attempting to flee the scene. Both children fled the vehicle before the offender left the fuel station and drove erratically around the Palmerston CBD. 

A short time later, the stolen vehicle was travelling on the wrong side of Tiger Brennan Drive when it collided with a Holden Commodore. The driver of the Commodore received minor injuries, and the offending driver was arrested a short time later. 

He has since been charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Criminal damage
  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Drive expired license
  • Drive in a manner and at speed dangerous
  • Recklessly endanger life
  • Leave the scene of accident

He was further remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
