Charges – Aggravated unlawful entries – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged two males after two separate aggravated unlawful entries in Alice Springs.

At 6am yesterday, two males, aged 17 and 20, allegedly unlawfully entered a residence on Andrews Court, Braitling. One of the males allegedly threatened the 75-year-old female resident with a blunt weapon before stealing her vehicle keys.

Both males were arrested a short time later. Detectives from Strike Force Viper have since charged the 20-year-old with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 1 x Criminal damage

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

The 17-year-old was further identified as being allegedly involved in an aggravated unlawful entry at a residence on Memorial Drive, Gillen, where a 74-year-old female victim received a broken wrist after being assaulted. He has since been charged with:

  • 2 x Aggravated robbery
  • 2 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 1 x unlawfully cause serious harm
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Criminal damage
  • 1 x Posses stolen property
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Serious breach of bail

He was remanded to appear in court today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Kent said “It is absolutely disgusting that two vulnerable members of our community have been preyed upon in this manner. These arrests and charges were the result of fantastic work by Strike Force Viper, the Criminal Investigation Branch, Forensic Services and general duties. 

“There is absolutely no excuses for this violent behaviour and police will continue ensure these offenders are put before the courts.
