Charges – Aggravated robbery – Darwin

Northern Territory Police arrested 4 youths in relation to an aggravated robbery in Casuarina yesterday.

At 12:50am, police received reports that 4 female youths unlawfully entered a service station on Trower Road, Casuarina. The youths allegedly used a blunt weapon to enter the business before threatening an employee, stealing a number of small items and fleeing the scene.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident identified the alleged offenders and at 8:20am the same day, all were arrested at various residences in Darwin.

Three 14-year-olds were charged with:

  • 1 x Robbery - aggravated
  • 2 x Unlawful entry - building
  • 2 x Stealing
  • 1 x Damage to property

They were all bailed and are expected to appear in court at later dates.

An 11-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Bland said “This sort of behaviour is unacceptable and no one deserves to be physically threatened in their place of work.

“Police continue to urge anyone who witnesses this sort of behaviour to make contact on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000. You can also make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
