Charges – Aggravated assault - Anula

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged an 18-year-old man after an incident at a shopping centre in Anula on 30 March 2023.

At 8:00pm, the man approached a woman and asked her to buy him alcohol and cigarettes.

After being refused, he allegedly assaulted two women before damaging a restaurant and smashing the windscreens of 6 vehicles outside the shop.

Strike Force Trident detectives actively searched for the male since the offending, where it is believed people known to the offender assisted him in avoiding detection whilst he taunted police on social media.

Yesterday morning, detectives located and arrested the man and he was charged with:

  • Damage to property x 8
  • Aggravated assault x 3
  • Armed with an offensive weapon
  • Offensive behaviour in a public place
  • Unlawful entry

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
