Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an assault that occurred in Darwin City over the weekend.

On Friday afternoon, the victim reported she was allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon. The incident is believed to have occurred on the median strip on Daly Street, near the intersection of Smith and Cavanagh Street.

Police and paramedics attended and the 35-year-old woman was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Serious Crime Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault.  

Anyone travelling within the vicinity, between 4pm and 5pm, who has information or dash-cam footage, is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number on 10232572.
