Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are calling for information after a man was struck by a rock in Alice Springs overnight.

At 10:45pm, police received reports of a 52-year-old man who had been struck by a rock at the intersection of Larapinta Drive and the Stuart Highway.

The man was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital with serious injuries to his eye and awaits surgery.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have been driving in that area at the time of incident, particularly if you have dash cam footage.
