Arrest – Aggravated robbery – Katherine

Northern Territory Police have arrested man after an aggravated robbery with a firearm in Katherine East overnight.

Around 2:20am, police received reports that two males unlawfully entered a residence on Acacia Drive, Katherine East. One of the men allegedly discharged a firearm twice within the house before physically assaulting one of the residents. No one was injured by the weapon and the victim, who is known to the offenders, received minor injuries from the physical assault.

The offenders allegedly stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene. 

At 3:45am, a domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on Ronan Court, Katherine East, linked to one of the offenders. Police established a cordon in the area and the 31-year-old man was arrested without incident after he attempted to flee from police. He remains in police custody assisting with enquiries.

Detectives from the Katherine Criminal Investigations Branch are investigating both incidents and crimes scenes have been declared at both residences. The firearm is yet to be located.
